Information about emergency assistance funds
Dear students,
We want to provide you and the campus with an update about emergency funding and how we will distribute the Federal CARES funds to students.
CARES Funding:
Students who have submitted a FAFSA application and who are eligible for Financial Aid are also eligible for a one-time award of Federal CARES Act stimulus funds. Financially eligible students should receive a payment to their financial aid account sometime during the week of May 4.
Emergency Funding:
The college also has a small pool of Emergency Funds to help a limited number of students with needs.
In light of the pandemic, the Emergency Funds team will provide a quarterly (as available) stipend ONLY to those who are ineligible to receive CARES funding.
We know that students do not qualify for financial aid for many reasons, so this fund will hopefully address those not covered by federal CARES funding. Additionally, the Emergency Funds committee is only able to offer a basic food and hygiene stipend. Expenses such as rent and utilities are not eligible for emergency funding relief at this time.
More information about the college’s funding process and other resources are available in this document. If you are in need of assistance to help you stay in school, please contact the Student Support Programs Office.
Stay safe,
Seattle Central College Student Support Programs
