Get Paid To Make A Difference, Many Job Positions Available!

Starting in April, students can apply to take on leadership roles for the following year on our student teams. If you are selected, you will be expected to attend the Student Leadership Orientation in September and serve Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters. Most positions will begin September 1st. Students will be working 10-12 hours per week with the Seattle minimum wage payrate of $18.69 per hour.

Student Leadership members gain intensive training opportunities and significant experience that will complement their academic training as a springboard to career success and lifelong civic participation.

All positions are open to any student with 10 college-level credits and a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

The Associated Student Council (ASC), the official student government of Seattle Central, represents student interests to the college administration. As an Executive member of ASC, you will play a critical role in the student-run government of Seattle Central College under the supervision of the Director of Student Leadership. You will assist in various projects to execute the goals of the ASC, which are all aimed at enhancing the student experience, improving current programs at Seattle Central, and promoting the voice of the students.

Open Positions

  • ASC Executive of Administration: Reports monthly to the District Board of Trustees and the college president; is responsible for scheduling meetings, posting office hours, maintaining agendas and minutes, tracking attendance, and the Student Tenure assignment process and works closely with the ASC Advisor
  • ASC Executive of Communication: Establishes and chairs the Communication Committee and organizes marketing for annual ASC recruitment; expands ASC outreach by acting as a liaison with the College Public Information Office, Information Central, CAB, and SORC; serves on the Student Publications Board.
  • ASC Executive of Finance: Serves as the ASC representative and chairs the Services and Activities (S&A) Fee Budget Committee by acting as a liaison with budget departments, submitting the ASC budget proposal and giving regular reports, and recruiting students to the committee
  • ASC Executive of Issues and Concerns: Establishes and chairs the Issues and Concerns Committee and  is responsible for suggestion boxes and maintaining the official Issues and Concerns email account, informing the ASC of student concerns, meeting with campus departments on behalf of students, and holding 1-2 public student forums per year;
  • ASC Executive of Legislative Affairs: Establishes and chairs the Student Advocacy Committee and the ASC Selection Process Steering Committee; is responsible for organizing any legislative advocacy efforts in Olympia or elsewhere, as the delegate to the Washington Community and Technical College Student Association.
  • ASC Executive of Student Success: Establishes and chairs the Student Success Committee, the Presidents’ Medal Committee, acts and a liaison to the library and is responsible for conceptualizing a project that improves the college or helps students be successful (Open Educational Resources (OER), Extended Library Study Hours, Student Wellness Resources) and the ASC Book Fund.

Additional Requirements - Must be endorsed by 25 students from the student body. Physical copies of the endorsement sheet can be picked up at Student Leadership. (printable version coming soon). Applicant also cannot be a President or Vice-president of an active Seattle Central club unless the applicant is willing to pass on leadership responsibilities once hired.

The Clubs and Activities Board (CAB) is a team of students who develop and organize multicultural events and activities on campus that celebrate the diversity of our community, promote student involvement, and foster collaboration among student organizations. They seek to inspire students to build relationships across cultures, bringing about equity & social change.

 

Open Positions

  • Event Coordinator  - Event Coordinators support Student Life at Seattle Central. Every month, CAB hosts a variety of programs and events, including film screenings, discussions, guest speakers, artists, poets, workshops, and more. They assist numerous clubs with their technical needs by assisting with presentations, awareness drives, cultural programs, and social activities. (Read More)  
  • Club Coordinator - Club Coordinators supports club life at Seattle Central. We help clubs with funding access, resources, leadership practice, and training. SORC is committed to providing spaces for students who want to find a sense of belonging as well as empower them to lead their communities. (Read More)
